Sunday, May 30th 8:00pm

June finds us celebrating the first offering from Dust-Up, a new, independent publisher in Los Angeles. They are a band of friends hoping to create a natural habitat for writing and art. Won't you join them? Contributors Aimee Bender, Caley O'Dwyer, June Melby
(www.junemelby.com), and Phil Hay himself will be on hand to read and revel.

The featured visual artist for the night is Matt Manfredi. We will suck down some Whiskey Sours, while away an hour or two with a wordy parlor game, and be graced with robot poetry. The password is Torito.

Aimee Bender usually writes and reads manmade things but for this Speakeasy will be reading robot poetry with Phil Hay.

Phil Hay is a Los Angeles writer. His film scripts include "crazy/beautiful" and the upcoming "Aeon Flux." Dust Up is his first publishing venture.

Caley O'Dwyer's poems are published in Alaska Quarterly Review, Prairie Schooner, Hayden's Ferry Review, Santa Barbara Review, Washington Square, Many Mountains Moving, The Texas Review, and others. He is a 1998 winner of an Academy of American Poets Prize, a two time nominee for the Pushcart Prize, a recent winner of the Dallas Morning News' “Images” poetry contest judged by Yusef Komunyakaa, and a 1996 recipient of a Helene Wurlitzer grant for poetry. His first collection, Full Nova, was published by Orchises Press in January of 2001. He teaches writing at the University of Southern California.

Chris Davidson lives with his family in Orange County, where he writes and plays in the unsuccessful band the Santiago Steps.
