Sunday, March
28th,
8:00pm
“Happy
Anniversary!”
The Speakeasy is made for scandal this month
as we welcome Laurie Jacobson, author
of Hollywood
Heartbreak, Hollywood Haunted and
the newly released Dishing Hollywood.
Come mix it up with us and learn why William
Desmond Taylor
loved Orange
Blossoms (yes, so fresh, and yes, so intoxicating).
Won’t you join us as
we delve into the ever-beckoning dark side
of Tinsel Town?
The evening’s bookmark will be made
by Albert Cuellar,
a visual artist who lives in Watts. His work
has been featured
in the films
of Tim Burton (Ed Wood), D.J. Pooh (The
Wash),
and Ray Manzarek (Lover Madly). Most recently,
he created animated sequences for Asia Argento’s
forthcoming The Heart is Deceitful Above
All Things (a movie based on the novel by
J.T. Leroy).

SCANDAL AND GOOD EATS! GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT!
Romance, scandal and murder can really work
up an appetite.
In DISHING HOLLYWOOD, author
Laurie Jacobson serves up the real scoop on
43 Tinseltown scandals
with a recipe connected to each one: last suppers,
first dates, favorite
dishes -- stories with real meat to 'em. And Jacobson
really knows her stuff. A renown Hollywood
historian, she
is the author of several popular books and
a writer/producer of TV specials and
talk shows. She's appeared on: E!'s Mysteries
and Scandals,
Mike Wallace's 20th Century, A&E,
History Channel, CNN, AMC, Art Bell, hundreds of
radio shows and more. And does she have great stories.
Come and listen!
What does she bring you in her latest book? Let me
whet your appetite: Marilyn
Monroe: what she did AFTER she posed for her famous
calendar; Sinatra, DiMaggio
and the "wrong-door
raid"; The Black Dahlia -- her "unsolved" murder
is solved; John Wayne, flag-waving American -- killed
by his own government? Inger Stevens's suicide now
looks like murder; Mama Cass: the ham sandwich was
baloney! Dorothy Kilgallen -- murdered for what she knew about the JFK assassination; what
shocking punishment did Bing Crosby dish out to his
sons? Sharon Tate:
Laurie
found her waitress that night, got her last supper
and a great story! Sal Mineo, Liberace, Lana Turner,
Phil Spector, Natalie
Wood, Robert Blake, Roman Polanski and more! for
